Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken with Stir-Fried Noodles and Steamed Rice

This dish consists of crispy, glazed chicken, stir-fried noodles, and steamed white rice. Here’s a recipe to recreate it at home:


Ingredients:


For the Crispy Chicken:

  • 500g boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk or water
  • Oil for frying


For the Sauce:

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • ½ cup bell peppers (red and green, diced)


For the Stir-Fried Noodles:

  • 200g egg noodles (cooked)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • ½ cup bell peppers (sliced)
  • ½ cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp oil


For the White Rice:

  • 1 cup white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ tsp salt


Instructions:


1. Prepare the Crispy Chicken:

  • 1. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • 2. In another bowl, whisk egg and milk.
  • 3. Dip chicken pieces into the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture.
  • 4. Heat oil in a pan and deep-fry the chicken until golden and crispy.
  • 5. Drain on paper towels.

2. Make the Sauce:

  • 1. In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté garlic and ginger.
  • 2. Add soy sauce, honey, ketchup, vinegar, hoisin sauce, and chili flakes.
  • 3. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and let the sauce thicken.
  • 4. Add bell peppers and fried chicken, tossing to coat well.

3. Stir-Fry the Noodles:

  • 1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic, onion, bell peppers, and cabbage.
  • 2. Add cooked noodles and stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar.
  • 3. Toss well and cook for another 2 minutes.

4. Cook the White Rice:

  • 1. Rinse rice and add it to a pot with water and salt.
  • 2. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes until tender.


Serving:

Plate the steamed rice, crispy glazed chicken, and stir-fried noodles together.
